Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup gluten-free flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • ¾ cup dairy-free milk like almond or oat
  • 3 tbsp almond butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 lovely ripe banana (roughly 130g)
  • 2 tbsp cacao powder (Cocoa powder works too)
  • ½ tsp sea salt
  • For the glaze optional but highly recommended:
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1-2 tbsp coconut oil

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and lightly grease a donut pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients: flour, cocoa, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix the wet ingredients: dairy-free milk, coconut oil, flax egg, and vanilla.
  4. Combine wet and dry until smooth (don’t overmix).
  5. Spoon or pipe batter into the donut pan, filling each about ¾ full.
  6. Bake 12–14 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Let cool before dipping in glaze.
