“The only thing I like better than talking about Food is eating.” — John Walters
True story. As much as I love working out and green smoothies I LOVE food. I love everything about it — from the of art of cooking to breaking bread with friends, food is my jam. This reminders me, it’s time for a dinner party.
Over the years I’ve acquired a number of cookbooks however, only a few are in heavy rotation. On Sundays, I love pulling them out and searching the internet for delicious meals for the week. My weekly goal is to make at least one new dish.
With that said, here are 10 cookbooks I’m totally digging right now and think you will too!
1. The Joy of Cooking — A kitchen staple. Every home cook should own a copy. I turn to The joy of Cooking mostly for basics — pizza dough, pancakes, bread, etc. The recipes are no fuss and prefect every time.
2. Well Fed — For the Whole Food Paleo loving friends Well Fed is high on the list. Mel Joulwan breaks down the art of meal planning, prep and shopping. Her meals are simple and easy to follow. Try the Pad Thai.
3. Against All Grain — I devoured this book. Danielle Walker’s Paleo inspired twist on everyday food will leave you wanting more. From her slow cooker pulled pork to sandwich bread I can’t get enough. Ok, let’s visit the sandwich bread again. It’s honestly the best ‘paleo’ bread I’ve every made/had. The secret ingredient is cashew butter! So much flavor.
4. Clean Green Drinks — Green smoothie addict, right here! This is the only smoothie book you need to own. So many inspirational recipes. Fun Fact: Candice and I actually went to High School and College together!
5. The Quick Six Fix — As much as I love cooking fun elaborate dishes there’s something about simplicity. Well, Stuart O’Keefe nailed it. The Quick Six Fix is 100 no-fuss recipes using only six ingredients! Every guy and busy mom needs The Quick Six Fix. How could you not get on board with Crispy Salmon with Pistachio Basil Butter, Butternut Squash and Coconut Soup or Mustard Crusted Pork with Apple Cabbage Slaw. Is your mouth watering yet? I thought so.
6. Bonjour Y’all — Remember the Blueberry + Raspberry Tart I made last summer? Yup, still cooking from this book. “Bonjour, Y’All,” the slogan for Heidi Vukov’s Croissants Bistro and Bakery in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, perfectly encapsulates the popular restaurant’s elegant and delicious pairing of two distinct culinary traditions—European cuisine and Southern home cooking.
7. Clean Green Eats — We all know we should eat more green foods, but after a few variations of the same salad, juice or smoothie, it’s easy to run out of ideas that excite our taste buds. Candice offers a variety of recipes made from whole foods packed full of nutrients that will make you rethink the way you eat.
8. 150 Best Spiralizer Recipes — Zoodle anyone? With summer approaching zoodles are a great way to enjoy ‘pasta’ without the extra calories. Think light, but right. Plus, you’re eating more veggies!
9. Paleo Perfected — If you’re into America’s Test Kitchen and eating Paleo then you need this cookbook. It’s foolproof, practical, and full of innovative recipes making it an invaluable resource.
10. The Complete Cooking For Two Cookbook — America’s Test Kitchen strikes again. They reengineered 650 of their best recipes to serve just two! Yes, please. Smaller families shouldn’t have to make meals meant for 4-6. While I do love leftovers sometimes it’s easier to just cook for two.
I barely scratched the surface as the world is full of amazing cooks and cookbooks. What are a few of your favorite cookbooks? Don’t tell the hubby, but I’m always in the market for more!
