Sundays can feel like a tug-of-war. Part of you wants to savor the last bit of weekend freedom, and the other part is already staring down the calendar for Monday. I’ve learned the hard way that if I don’t take a little time Sunday night to reset, Monday morning comes at me like a freight train.
The good news? It doesn’t take much. Just a few intentional habits can turn your Sunday evening into the launchpad for a smoother week. Here are my three go-to Sunday night tips that make Monday—and the days that follow—so much easier.

1. Plan Your Week, Not Just Your Monday
Instead of scrambling Monday morning with a never-ending to-do list, I carve out 15 minutes Sunday night to look at the whole week. I jot down appointments, kids’ sports schedules, workouts, and big work deadlines. Then I plug in non-negotiables like meal prep or downtime.
This isn’t about filling every block of time. It’s about reducing decision fatigue so I start the week with a roadmap. When the unexpected comes up (because it always does), I already know what can shift and what can’t.
2. Reset Your Space
I don’t go full “deep clean” mode, but I do a quick reset of the spaces I use most—kitchen, entryway, and my desk. For me, that means running the dishwasher, clearing out the shoe pile by the door, and making sure my workspace doesn’t look like a tornado hit it.
Walking into a clean-ish space Monday morning sets the tone. It feels like starting fresh instead of catching up. Even better, this is an easy one to make a family affair. Ten minutes of everyone pitching in gets it done fast.
3. Choose Your Monday Outfit (and Workout Gear)
Nothing slows me down like standing in front of the closet Monday morning with zero plan. On Sundays, I pick out what I’m wearing to work (or work from home), plus set aside my workout clothes.
It’s one less thing to think about, and it helps me follow through with morning runs. If the gear is ready, I’m less likely to hit snooze.
Sunday night doesn’t have to be stressful. With a little planning, a quick reset, and some clothes laid out, you can walk into Monday feeling prepared instead of behind. Think of it as a mini investment in your future self—the one who will thank you when the coffee hasn’t kicked in yet.
Try adding just one of these tips this week and see how much lighter Monday feels. Sometimes the simplest shifts make the biggest difference.
Home things I’m loving right now.
