Well hello party people. I’m back with a brand new addition… lol. All Vanilla Ice kidding aside I’m back with an awesome DIY costume and an even better reaction from my toddler wearing it. If you follow me on instagram [@tiara_wasner] then you know what I’m talking about.
But first the cutest costume.
DIY FLAMINGO COSTUME
Materials
– Pink dress or pink top with pink and white striped leggings
– 3 to 5 pink feather boas
– scraps of light pink, hot pink and black felt
– safety pin
– 50″ pink ribbon
Tools
– black sharpie
– sewing scissors
– hot glue gun or sewing machine
STEP 1: Make the Skirt
Cut a piece of ribbon around 50” long.
Cut the boas in halves, thirds or quarters, depending on the length of your boa. You’ll want your boa strips to be double the length of your finished skirt length.
Tie one of the boa strips around the ribbon with a simple knot. Let the two sides dangle down evenly-ish. Repeat until you have a full skirt. It’s okay if the skirt doesn’t go all of the way around, as long as it covers the front.
Push all of the boa strips onto the center of the ribbon and tie the ribbon in the back around your waist. Your skirt is done!
STEP 2: Make the Head
To make the flamingo head, pull one of the boa strips from the skirt around to the top. Cut two light pink felt circles for the head and use additional pieces of felt for beak shapes.
Pro tip: Use the ribbon holder as a circle template and simply trace around it with the marker.
Place beak shapes on top of one another and sew together or use a hot glue gun. Repeat so that you have two identical flamingo heads.
Use a black sharpie to draw the eyes. Place the flamingo heads around the top of the boa strip sandwiching the boa inside the flamingo head. Sew or glue together.
STEP 3: Pull it all together
To ensure the flamingo head stays in place, simply use a safety pin to attach when wearing.
While I thought this was a great costume for my toddler she clearly did not. As soon as the skirt went on she was franticly trying to rip it off. Feathers were flying EVERYWHERE. Needless to say we’re going with plan B….
My sister was in town and captured a few behind the scenes photos. Yup, life of a blogger. I’m either snap chatting or just grabbing some random photos. Who knows. Either way it was fun showing my sister how I’m using my LG K7 phone from Walmart [$49.88 — Rollback from $89.88].
Since my sister has been revamping her budget I shared how our family saves money on our monthly cell phone bill with Walmart Family Mobile PLUS Plan. Plan details: Unlimited Talk, Text, & Data which includes up to 10GB of 4G LTE plus a free movie on VUDU every month [$7 value] per line for $49.88. [FYI- the free movie is a New release rental]

Not only was my out of pocket really low compared to other prepaid carriers – only $19.88 to get started, the phone takes pretty decent phones too! FYI — The starter kit is currently on rollback for $19.88 [from $25]
