Thank you for all your kind words about our little bundle of joy! It’s starting to sink in more and more. Today we’re exactly 13 weeks! I can’t believe that we’re 1/3 of the way there. Now for those details I promised.
Let’s start with how we found out. It was like any other Friday morning. My alarm went off at 5 a.m. for the gym and I stumbled to the bathroom. However that morning I realized I might be pregnant. So on a whim I decided to take a pregnancy test. To my surprise it was positive!
Excited, I ran into the bedroom and jumped on the bed while Nick was still asleep and said “I have to get ready for the gym, but first…. you’re going to be a dad!”
Half asleep he rolled over and said something lovely and went back to sleep. I headed to the GYM busted out a solid hour workout and got ready for my workday.
Since it was friday Nick didn’t have to work which meant when I returned home from the GYM we were able to talk about it some more. He was trying not to get too excited because anything could happen, but I could tell he was.
After talking for awhile I tried to figure out how far along I would be for Tough Mudder in August. I’m estimated 16 weeks and proclaimed to Nick that as long as the doctor approved I plan to participate. So stay tune.
Week 5-8
We found out the big news. We made our first appointment and continued on with daily life. We kept the secret from our family and friends for awhile. Around week eight I finally told my mom, sister and brother.
I continued to maintain my workout routine, attended a birthday party and even traveled back to St. Louis, MO.
Week 9
We finally had our first doctor appointment. She confirmed we were pregnant and we even heard the heartbeat. Our doctor was happy with the placement and 160 heart beat. She snapped a few photos, went over a few things and sent us on our way.
Week 10
BBQ, beach and July 4th! The only thing I missed this week was an ice cold beer. We also told my dad and stepmom. My tummy definitely looks a bit more rounded here.
Week 11-12
I wrapped up a crazy work week, had my second doctor appointment and we told Nick’s parents. We actually were able to tell Nick’s parents in person which was really fun. We also started telling more friends and finally made the official announcement at 12 weeks.
FAQ’s since announcing we’re expecting
When are you due?
As of today our due date is January 30, but that can change. When we initially went to the doctor we measured at 10 weeks, but our doctor decided to keep us at nine weeks. We’ll see what happens as we progress.
Do you know what you’re having/are you going to find out?
No, we don’t know yet. It’s way to early. Yes, we are going to find out what we’re having. I’m too much of a planner not to find out.
What about your kitchen remodel?
We are still moving forward with our kitchen renovation and I can’t wait! We’re currently waiting for the building permit so there really isn’t any updates.
Are you going to track your progress?
Yes, absolutely! I can’t wait to see this little belly grow. With that said I plan to post updates about once a month. I figure enough time will have passed to see significant change. For now lets start with 13 weeks!
How far along:
Exactly 13 weeks today!
Baby’s size:
Our peanut is the size of a peach. About 2.9 inches and 0.81 ounces.
Weight gain:
Ah. The loaded question. So far only 4 pounds which I’m chalking some of that up to muscle gain from crossfit.

There are so many. All the kind words and well wishes, hearing the heartbeat again on Tuesday, officially hitting the 1/3 mark and booking flights to Portland for Feast Portland!
Miss anything?
Sushi and wine. However, I did go to sushi a few weeks ago with friends I just made sure everything I ordered was cooked.
Symptoms:
I mostly feel like myself. However after a meal I feel like I look fat. I’m looking forward to the point when it’s clear I’m pregnant.

Workouts:
I’m still hitting the GYM hard and logging 6-8 workouts a week. Yes, I was cleared by my doctor. She even cleared me to participate in Tough Mudder on August 16. My workouts include spin, crossfit, personal training and running. Hopefully I will be able to maintain a workout regimen throughout my entire pregnancy.
Maternity Clothes?
No, not yet. I did purchase a few cotton dresses from Old Navy (similar) and Frye boots from Nordstrom. I’m waiting to see what happens over the next few months.

We can’t wait to find out whether our peanut is a boy or girl. Obviously we just want a healthy happy baby, but I can’t wait to decorate the baby room, shop and talk about names!

eeeeeeeeee!!! COngrats!!! (That's my excited baby voice). So happy for yall and glad you aren't feeling too terrible. Go ahead and give into that bread now and then- it is better than feeling nauseas or thinking about how much you want it all day. ha I had completely different craving with all my boys: with Cullen I was obsessed with milk, I would drink it straight from the carton and couldn't get enough- with B it was soy sauce (random) but cooked sushi and chinese takeout became serious necessities and then with Wells it was pimento stuff olive (which i ate straight from the jar with a fork- yuck!) and that was the weirdest because I don't like olives at all in regular life. Congrats again and let me know if you have any questions about how crazy and amazing your life is about to be 🙂

Thanks Lady! Those are some pretty random cravings. Some days I still can't believe it, but it's starting to sink in. There are so many things racing through my head daily. I'm sure the next 6 months are going to fly by.
