I love a long weekend! We spent ours in Southern California — specifically in my hometown of Carlsbad, CA. Emerson was a trooper during the 9 hour car ride! The key was leaving at 4 a.m. Anyway, our weekend went a little like this…
Friday morning we headed out about 4 a.m. down HWY 395 towards San Diego. Since we left so early we saw the sunrise over Mono Lake. Of course there was a stop in Bishop for breakfast and coffee at Erick Schat’s Bakkery. This place is a MUST if you’re passing through Bishop, CA.
Saturday — There was a stroll along the beach, some shopping and a Padres game in the evening — they lost.
Sunday was pretty mellow. Emerson and I met up with an old friend for coffee and a walked on the beach. Later Emerson swam in the pool and we barbecued at the house.
Monday was spent at the beach and barbecued in the evening with friends. It was the perfect way to spend the day.
It was a quick trip, but we had a great time. Every visit always makes me want to move back. I just need to figure out a way to have a house in the mountains and at the beach!
