Thank you, Annie’s & Cascadian Farm and Walmart for inspiring and sponsoring today’s post. #CascadianFarm #Annies #BreakfastGoals
Here’s the thing, I’m often asked how do you do it? How do you eat so healthy? How do you find time to workout? How do you get a toddler to eat? How do you (fill in the blank)?
I wanted her to hold the box, but this is what she gave me instead. #thatmomlife |
Here’s the answer… there’s no right way or wrong way, there’s only consistency. That’s right, it’s about being consistent, not perfect. Perfect is boring while consistency is sustainable.
So let’s focus on food because you all know I LOVE to eat and talk about food. As you know I recently lost 15+ pounds and it’s because I found a happy balance in my diet. Not because it was perfectly filled with fruits and veggies, but because it was balanced with proteins, fats, and carbs… aka, all the things I love! Yes, I said fats and carbs! Please don’t think cutting certain foods out of your daily diet is a must.
So a daily staple in our household is cereal. Gasp, I know. I just said cereal. But here’s the thing it’s awesome and there are so many ways you can enjoy it without going overboard — aka, eating more than the suggested serving size.
Five Ways We Enjoy Cereal/Granola
1. With plain greek yogurt and fruit
2. The Old Fashion Way — 2/3 cup in a bowl with a splash of milk preferably almond milk.
3. On top of a Smoothie
4. On top of protein ice cream
5. As a Waffle/Pancake topping
But back to consistency. While it may sound tedious I plan out my meals the night before via MyFitnessPal. This is how I’m consistent. I start with snacks because honestly, snacks are my jam! Every day I have nonfat plain greek yogurt with granola and fruit. It really never gets old. Lately, I’ve been loving Cascadian Farm Oat and Honey Granola. It’s so good.
I recently discovered it while browsing the granola/cereal aisle at Walmart. Yup, Walmart. Hello, they have the best prices. Aside from a box of Cascadian Farm Oat and Honey Granola I picked up a box of Annie’s Organic Cinnabunnies Cereal for Emerson. On the mornings we’re running behind cereal is our go-to. Plus, Annie’s Organic Cinnabunnies Cereal makes a tasty waffle topping… just saying.
Sometimes we like to eat them in a bag while watching cartoons in the morning. |
There are a lot of cereals out there and not all are created equal. Although, I say eat cereal you also want to look at the ingredients. For example, Cascadian Farm Oat and Honey Granola only has eight ingredients! Yes, only eight! Amazing right?! What’s even better — I can pronounce all of them. That’s a product and brand I can feel good buying for my family.
OK, let’s get back on track. The moral of my food story is find your balance and be consistent. Enjoying the foods I love like Cascadian Farm Oat and Honey Granola keep me on track.
