It’s a new year so why not a new me!
This morning, like many mornings, I stood in front of my closet trying to decide what I was going to wear for the day. I grabbed my navy skinnies, a plaid pink, navy and gray top, gray scarf and my trusty TOMS. It’s Friday and today I’m playing it casual. The thing is my wardrobe needs a overhaul. My taste has changed so much in the last year, plus it’s been a while since I really went through my closet. Yes, I throw a item here and there in the “get rid of” pile, but it’s time I really weed through the good, bad and straight haven’t worn in years.
My pledge to myself:
To buy timeless quality pieces that I love not because I think I can where it for a certain function or super sale. Mix more bold colors into my wardrobe (it’s a lot of neutrals and gray tones).
How do you decide what to keep and what to toss?
Do you follow any guidelines when buying new clothes?

Great post! I really like the clutch/wristlet here.
I think you are embracing the New Year with a great attitude about your closet. I usually edit an item if I have not worn it in a while or can not wear it with multiple accessories, etc. Shop for classic pieces and on trend if the item is budget-friendly, i.e. on the cheap! LOL
All the best!

Love this look you have put together. It's casual and still fun! I edited my closet a few months ago and it felt good to donate some stuff that I won't wear anymore and make room for some new and more fun pieces. 🙂

I've never really been a fan of Tom's but those wedges are adorable.

Im seriously wearing that outfit today, except with purple pants! We are actually visiting Tahoe for the first time right now (napping boys exhausted from sledding all morning!). What a beautiful place to call home!

Yay! So glad to hear you are enjoying Tahoe! Are you on the South Shore? You have to take the boys to Red Hut on Ski Run Blvd for breakfast. Let me know if you have a free hour to meet for coffee or a glass of wine.

I'm trying to do the same this year! I have so many outfits I bought for one purpose and I never wear them anymore. Sticking to classics this year.
I love that outfit! The colors all work so well together!

Do you think you'll donate or try something like Shop my closet?

I am so bad at getting rid of items in my closet. No joke I've had stuff that I don't wear, stuff from high school, still in mine! I need to purge!
I love this outfit and agree with needing timeless pieces.

I think I finally got rid of everything from HS, but college is a different story!
