More often than not I’m asked how I’m able to stay fit and healthy especially after having a baby. Well folks good old diet and exercise. I know, I know easier said than done and what about vacation? It’s never been easier to eat clean and feel great even when on vacation.
It’s true. Last week I was in Hawaii and was able to maintain without all the comforts of my home kitchen and crossfit/spin family keeping me accountable. How was I able to stay healthy and fit? Here are my five tips to do just that, even in Hawaii!
1. INDUGE [but not too much]
Yes, I just gave you permission to have a scoop of homemade gelato, glass of wine or whatever your guilty pleasure is. Moderation is key even when on vacation. You don’t want to create bad habits and know it’s ok to turn down a second of glass, etc.
2. MOVE [Everyday]
I know the pool/beach is calling your name, but get moving before lounging in the sun. Go for a walk/run or get in a quick circuit. Try four rounds of 25 air squats, 25 jumping lunges, 25 burpees, 25 push ups followed by a mile run/walk.
3. Keep Healthy Snacks/Meals Around
If you’re staying in a condo try only eating out one meal a day. Make sure to stock the fridge with healthy options. If you’re staying in a hotel ask for a mini fridge to keep a few items in. I personally love elevĀte salads because they are SO easy to grab and go.
elevĀte salads are portable nutrition at your fingertips no matter how busy life gets. Happiness and healthiness are right at your fingertips. Recently I packed our fridge with elevĀte salads [pictured: 4 Pack Organic Nutty Cranberry] from Costco because this mom didn’t have time to meal prep after being in Hawaii for a week!
4. Drink Water!
Water does a body good. End of story. Make sure to pack a reusable water bottle.
5. Go for Adventure
In wine country? Go for a bike tour hoping from winery to winery. Go hiking, paddleboarding, zipping lining, snorkeling, etc. Bottom line get outside and get active.
All in all — have fun, don’t go crazy, but don’t beat yourself up.
How do you stay active and fit on vacation?
Don’t forget to pick up a pack of elevĀte salads the next time you’re at Costco.
