The Holidays are upon us whether you’re ready or not! I don’t know about you, but I plan to hibernate for the next few months to avoid tasty treats, red cups, the flu and adult beverages — said no one ever! But seriously how does one say fit and healthy through the holiday season? Simple – healthy food, plenty of exercise, sleep and vitamins. I should note I’m not a doctor, nutritionist, trainer, etc. so use my advice at your own risk — HAHA. However, Nature Made® is the #1 Pharmacist Recommended brand for many key dietary supplement categories*
Ok, now that I’m done wiping the tears from laughing so hard about ‘using my advice at your own risk’ let’s break it down.
FOOD
Did you know the average american will gain 7-10 pounds between Thanksgiving and Christmas? I’m a firm believer that fit bodies are made in the kitchen. So, to simply put it, eat clean whole foods. Throw away the proceeded crap and sugar. Avoiding treats all together is near impossible, but try to limit yourself to only one ‘treat’ a week. Your backside will thank you in the spring.
Here’s an example of how I eat — green smoothie or egg scramble for breakfast, chicken salad for lunch, and salmon [or another protein], sweet potato and veggies for dinner. Make sure to drink plenty of water. Pro Holiday party tips: eat before you go. This way you know you’re staying on track. Attending a dinner party? Bring a healthy side to share.

EXERCISE
Make it a priority this season. I schedule all my workouts in my calendar. This way I know I’m putting in some time to take care of myself. Shoot for at least one hour five days a week. Yes, five days! Again your backside will thank you in the spring. Exercise helps control the holiday weight gain, combat long term health conditions and diseases, improves mood, boosts energy and promotes better sleep. Plus, exercising is fun especially when you get outdoors! A short hike will do the mind and body good.
VITAMINS
Everyday I take a multi vitamin, vitamin C, fish oil, and vitamin D — without fail. While these are the vitamins I like and need you’ll want to find the right combo for you. Nature Made® has a variety of vitamins, minerals, and supplements (VMS) to help support nutritional gaps with your health goals in mind ranging from Digestive Support, Heart Health & Function, Energy Metabolism, Women’s Health and much more!†
Looking for a probiotic? Nature Made® Probiotics are only available at Walmart SuperCenter locations. Nature Made® Probiotics: Nature Made® Advanced Dual Action Probiotic has been clinically studied and provides dual support to both your small and large intestine for comprehensive coverage to help support digestive balance and healthy gut flora.†
When you’re making your holiday shopping list don’t forget the vitamins or supplements you’re out of. I recently stocked up on vitamin C and fish oil while at Walmart. Walmart has everyday low prices on Nature Made® items, so it’s easy to stock up and save, there’s no need to wait for a sale.
Nature Made® vitamins and supplements: An easy, convenient way to help your body get the nutritional support it needs every day, whether it be to support bone health, immune health or energy metabolism (helping convert food into energy).†
SLEEP
Basically shoot for 7-8 hours a night. No excuses — unless you just had a baby 😉
Join me this season on my Facebook page where I’m posting my daily workout attire and inspiration. If you’re interested I’m happy to post workouts as well.
Cheers to a happy and healthy Holiday season!
