Happy Monday!
I’m back after taking a little breaky, break last week. Oh, it felt good to relax and soak in the fresh mountain air.
Did you know the number one resolution among Americans is health & fitness related? Yup, that’s right we all want to be healthy and fit. For some of us it’s about achieving new fitness goals while for others it’s simply losing a few pounds.
What’s your resolution for 2015? Personally, mine is getting my body back after baby and my word for 2015 is balance. It’s the one thing I will really need to work on this year considering we’re adding another person to the pack.
Well, if you’re looking for ways to kick start your journey to a healthier lifestyle or need a little motivation to stay on track here’s a little light morning reading for you.
ONE.
Detox – I’m not talking about a juice cleanse. I’m talking about cutting out the crap and eating real food. Try the 21 Day Sugar Detox (21DSD) or Whole30. They’re both about eating real foods and cutting out all the processed junk. It’s the perfect way to kick start the year and retrain the way you think about food. The Hubby and I completed our first Whole30 last January and just started our second today. Yes, while I’m pregnant! Good Luck.
TWO.
Hire a trainer or try something new like spin, crossfit or yoga. If you’re not mixing up your workouts you’re going to become board or might even hit a plateau. Your body will love you! Almost two years ago I joined a 90 day challenge at my gym and it changed everything. I was in a runt and working out with a trainer help reignite my inner athlete. Last April looking to challenge myself I joined crossfit. Ultimately you need to figure out what will continue to motivate you over time.
THREE.
Buy new workout clothes! Trust me it makes the world of difference. Guess what — seems like everyone is having a sale so stock up!
FOUR.
Get outside and make it a family/friend affair! Workouts don’t necessarily need to be at the GYM. On the weekends or after work during the summer (It’s too dark and cold during the winter) I like to enjoy the great outdoors — whether it’s hiking, mountain biking, or snowboarding.
FIVE.
Know that progress takes time. Stick with it. Take a monthly picture of yourself so you can see the transformation. You’ll be amazed. Plus, before and after pictures will only help motivate you on those days you’re struggling.
