Life After Baby | Living with a Happy Dog

Beyond the happiest baby in the world is our first baby girl, Roxy. Roxy, our seven year old german shorthaired pointer, wasn’t too sure or happy about us adding a tiny human into the mix. At first life was chaotic, to say the least, but once we figured things out it was smooth sailing.  The key to staying sane is keeping everyone happy. Easier said than done, right?!
Three tips to living with a happy dog after baby.
Exercise
A well exercised dog is a happy dog. We try to walk Roxy an hour everyday, but when we can’t we make sure to play fetch, tug-of-war, etc. Although she loves, loves the snow sometimes it’s just hard to walk her daily during winter months.
Food + Treats

Snuggles
Roxy loves her snuggles and she’s not shy about asking for them. Although it took her awhile to warm up to Emerson, once she did it was game over. Throw a blanket on the floor and Roxy wants to lay on it too. She has no shame in her game. We make sure to give Roxy plenty of snuggles everyday.

Roxy is a part of the family and we wouldn’t have it any other way. At this point she’s not even phased by Emerson and lets her crawl on to the dog bed with her.

    How sweet! It is important to take time for Roxy also. It can be hard to balance a new baby and a dog both needing attention! Great work, they both look very happy and well loved!

    Oh my gosh, what a sweet dog! I agree that it's important to keep them healthy and engaged as they grow older. We have a German Shepherd with stomach issues and I've heard Purina Pro Plan is good for sensitive digestion.

    I had 2 dogs when I got married and 3 years later we had a baby. My dogs were not treated any different and they were still looked at as part of the family from everyone in the family. My dogs adored their little sister and were the best babysitters.
